The lead in the battery is very harmful to the environment, and that's why you need to recycle your dead lead-acid battery. The fact is that lead-acid batteries are one of the worlds most recycled products. In the United States almost 90% of all lead-acid batteries are recycled, and somewhere between 60 and 80 percent of an avarage lead-acid battery is made from recycled materials.

In many countries retailers are obligated to collect used batteries for recycling. In the United States, almost all state laws requires that the retailer collects your used lead-acid battery.
